Drone Moments

It has taken me a year of ups and downs (in some cases, quite literally) to get used to drone flying. Even now, it is largely an exercise in focused terror. However, there are moments of serenity and beauty that make it worthwhile. I don't think I will ever get completely comfortable with piloting a drone...actually, I think I would be worried if I reached that level, as it would introduce a level of complacency I don't want. Drones are to be handled with care and respect; their power is not to be underestimated or taken for granted, however, used correctly, they can be a powerful tool in the filmmakers' arsenal.
Fast forward to 2018 - I am no less nervous in each flight, but I am gaining in confidence. I have traded up, at least partly, I am now flying with a more portable alternative, the DJI Spark. No the best in the world, but sufficient in most situations to capture impressive footage.
My future hopes are upgrading to my first 'professional' drone, or at least incorporating a 4k sensor, with more range and scope to play with the video image, and improving my flying skills (and reducing the level of nerves...).
